It's been a great three years!
Hi folks,

I've gotten a couple of questions about this lately, and I wanted to let you know that we're not going to be doing another round of lgbtfest this year. It's been a great experience, and although neither of us has the time or energy to tackle doing it again, I'm really glad so many people have enjoyed writing and reading for the fest in the past!

I'll still be maintaining the lgbtfest collection on AO3, and if you have stories written for previous rounds, you can still add them to the collection. Also, please feel free to browse past prompts for inspiration, and check out the fandom tags and the AO3 collection for any stories you may have missed in the past.

If anyone's thinking of starting a similar fest, I'll be happy for you to announce it here, but we're putting this particular fest to bed. Thanks so much to everyone who participated!

Sorry to see this notice. *pouts* But thank you for all your hard work in the past. I'll definitely cruise the prompts, however, because there were some tempting ones.

Happiness to you all in whatever you are up to these days. *mwah*

Thank you for your hard work. This has been my favourite fest for the last three years, and has produced some amazing fic.

Awww! *pouts*

It has indeed been a great three years. Thanks so much for running it.

This has been one of my favorite fests. Sorry to see it go, but I understand that these things happen. Thanks so much for putting in the time and effort to run it these past three years.

Sad to see this amazing fest go, and thanks for all of your energy in previous years.

I'm sorry to hear that, because I've really enjoyed reading and writing for the fest, but I can absolutely understand that you need the energy for other things. Thanks for all your hard work over the past five years!

I'm sorry it won't be running again, I always look forward to this fest, but thank you so much for running it got the last few years!

I'm sorry to see it end, but organizing something like lgbtfest is a huge amount of work and I completely understand your not being able to do it again this year. Thanks so much for everything you did.

Aw, darn! I'm sorry to see it end; it was definitely my favorite fest. (And brought me back to fandom!)

Would there be interest in having the comm stay open as wherenowoman does, with people posting related fic and the occasional open prompt or comment fest? Or perhaps there is already a comm that fits the bill? I don't think I'd have the time to moderate a full fest like you have in years past, but I could probably co-moderate a smaller deal. (This may be naive of me, having never moderated a fan comm in my life.)

Uh, that was supposed to say "where_no_woman", even though it's not showing up as a link in my (old old) browser. Normally when you spell a username wrong, it shows up as an INVALID LINK BLAH BLAH PLEASE FIX BLAH

And because I forgot to say it above, thank you for working so hard to make the last three fests such awesome ones.

I'm glad you commented (while I was typing) because at least two of us are on the same wavelength. ::crosses fingers::

I'd be happy to see someone create a new community that would stay open for posting stories with LGBT themes, even if they weren't up to running a full-scale fest. I think we've really decided to close this community, but I'm glad there's still so much interest, and if you decide to create the kind of community you're talking about, you're welcome to promote it here.

I understand!
In that case, if anyone has interest in co-moderating a new comm, leave a comment to this one.

Okay, so call me crazy (I'm sure many people do already, lol), but is there any way we, the members, could keep the comm alive and be able to post new stories to it based on prompts from previous years - even if it's not moderated and there are no new prompts.

Because IIRC there were thousands of prompts. I would hate to see a comm with which I feel a really sweet affinity (especially as I started writing in fandoms I'd never considered before) lying dormant ... ::wibbles:: and abandoned forever.

The AO3 collection is a wonderful asset but I'm still hoping we'd be able to share and write new stories as well to post in the manner suggested above.

Seconded! (Though just in a cheer-leading way, as I have no insight into the practical tasks of running a comm.)

I'd be happy to see someone create a new community for posting stories dealing with these issues, and if you'd like to link to or repost the prompts from past years, or invite people to write stories based on those prompts in another community, you're welcome to do so. I think we've really decided to close this community, but I'm glad there's still so much interest, and I'm happy for people to use the prompts from past years for inspiration elsewhere.

Many, many thanks to the mods for creating this wonderful comm and doing all that hard work for three years!

Like some of the previous commenters, I would also love to see this comm stay alive, if there's any way that members could keep posting new fics inspired by the prompts. (I've always had dreams of participating again, after my great experience in the first year; and I love reading all the thoughtful fics that are posted here.)

I'm sorry to read this. I really enjoyed the stories, and not just in my fandoms. There were so many great writers involved. Thank you for hosting. It will be missed.

awwww. This has been a semi-accidental highlight of my fannish time the last three years, and I'm sorry to see it end, at least here. But RL comes first and all that. Best of luck with the stuff you're on to now, both of you.

(I say semi-accidental because I heard about it in passing, the first year, and happened to see a prompt that was tailor-made for my particular Disc headcanon. XD)

Thank you for all the work you've put into this comm! I've enjoyed participating and reading and I really feel like it's had a positive effect on the culture in fandom, inspiring other work beyond the fics that got posted here. Good luck to you both with your other projects!

Thank you for all your work running lgbtfest over the past few years. I've never been a participant, but I've enjoyed following the community from the sidelines and really appreciate what you've put together here.

I'm sorry to hear this! I've written for the fest for two years, I had a ton of fun, and I feel like I wrote some of my best stuff for this challenge. It's been great, guys! Thanks for all the hard work you did for the community! :)

Thank you so much for running this fest so diligently and for so long. I've only participated in the fest once, but the output of the fest has always been outstanding to read, and it'll be a shame to see it go.

Thanks for all the hard work you've both done running this fest.
